Lady (Mrs.) Helen Aduke Olude

Co-Founder, Requisite Foundation
A Dedicated Educationist and Compassionate Leader

Lady (Mrs.) Helen Aduke Olude is a devoted educationist, retired but far from weary in her passion for service. Her life’s path was transformed early on by the kindness of an American Baptist missionary, the late Marie Van Lear from Virginia, who took her in as a daughter after she was orphaned. This profound relationship changed her life, opening doors that led to opportunities she could only have dreamed of.

From 1956 to 1961, Helen was awarded a scholarship that enabled her to attend both primary and secondary schools in Ogun State. Grateful for the missionary’s help, she developed a deep desire to give back to society, dedicating her life to helping orphans, widows, and young girls in need.

Helen pursued her passion for education and service by studying Guidance and Counseling at Akungba University, following her earlier education at the National Certificate in Education (NCE) level. With her expertise, she served in various capacities within her church, from Sunday School teacher to church steward, Women’s Leader (Vice President), committee leader, and choir member, where she continues to actively contribute. Her commitment to the church culminated in 2018 when she and her late husband were honored as Knight and Lady of John Wesley.

A multi-talented singer and composer, Helen’s gifts extend beyond the church. Fluent in Hausa, she is a Marriage Counselor and a traditional marriage coordinator and hostess. She is also one of the founding members of the Association of Professional Wedding Consultants of Nigeria (APWECON) and is revered as an elder within the Lagos State chapter.

In her personal life, Helen is a vibrant woman who loves cooking, singing, dancing, traveling, and socializing. She is blessed with eight children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many adopted children who have all benefitted from her boundless love and generosity.

Lady (Mrs.) Helen Aduke Olude continues to inspire those around her with her enduring commitment to education, faith, and the well-being of others.
